ScratchOutLoud: The Atlanta DJ Space That’s Blends Culture, Creativity, and Community
Sierra Wheeler
What’s up *louder than everyone else* to all our music lovers, music connoisseurs, and our fellow music snobs! Collectively, I feel like we need a name for ya’ll… Majorettes???! Fly?? … ight fine… We’ll workshop that… 🫣
Anyways, getting into it! The Majority Report Crew has been out in the community, chatting with folks in different industries and having some really great conversations. This one was particularly close to my heart. We had the pleasure of sitting down with E Hall from ScratchOutLoud! An all-vinyl DJ school that sits in the heart of Atlanta.
ScratchOutLoud (SOL) is dedicated to preserving the art of DJing and hip-hop culture. The school sits at the intersection of music education, creative expression, and cultural storytelling, and at Majority, you already know we are all about the cultural storytelling.
As Atlanta continues to operate as a cultural hub where art, fashion, and sound intertwine, SOL and Majority fit directly into that ecosystem. Talking about the connection between DJ culture and advertising lends itself to the flexibility of creativity and storytelling that’s deeply rooted in the way we express ourselves to others, as well as how we perceive and interpret other people. Which is pretty damn dope, but I might be biased lol.
I don’t want to give away too much, but I’ll leave y'all with a dope lil playlist that I vibe to, and hopefully that gets you ready to watch the full episode that you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnSfI7oZv20
